Self-proclaimed '60s counterculture
guru from Philadelphia. He fled the USA when he was charged with killing his girlfriend, in 1977. Sixteen years later, he was convicted in absentia of murder. Einhorn was arrested in France in June 1997. Initially France refused to extradite him due to France's laws against trials in absentia, and Europe's rejection of the
death penalty. After assurances from the USA that Einhorn would not face the death penalty if convicted, he was extradicted in 2002 and, in a subsequent trial,
convicted and sentenced to life without parole.
