News and News Archive

Many entries in our A-Z Index include links to related news items - both archived and up-to-date.

You'll also find up-to-date news about religious cults, sects, religions and related issues at Religion News Blog, which is operated by Apologetics Index.

Shown here are the most recent headlines:

Incidentally, if you have a website, you may use that news tickerOff-site Link free of charge.

Items published in our previous news publication, Religion News Report, are archived on this site (this archive includes items posted between Oct. 25, 1999 and Jan. 31, 2002), while items published in Religion News Blog are archived there (from July 2002 - older articles are added as time permits).

Thus there are several ways that you can access RNR news items:

The Color Key

Throughout the A-Z Index, a simple color-coding system is used to help you identify the general background of sites, articles and other listings:

     Christian Christian
     Non-Christian Non-Christian
     Secular Secular
     Pluralistic Pluralistic
To Be Reviewed/Grey Zone/Unsure Grey Zone or Offkey
Aberrational, Heretical, Heterodox, Suborthodox or Unorthodox Aberrational, Heretical, Heterodox, Suborthodox or Unorthodox
     Academic Academic
     Secular Hate Groups
Profess to be Christian but are outside orthodox Christianity Profess to be Christian but are outside orthodox Christianity.

Important: These keys are meant as handy visual aids - not full-blown theological commentaries. For example, they are helpful to quickly find a site that addresses, say, Scientology from a Christian perspective, or one that deals with Wicca from a non-Christian point of view. They are not meant to convey, say, the degree of orthodoxy or heresy.

Throughout the site, you'll encounter these two other keys:

Off-site Link  Incidates an off-site link
Indicates a separate window. The link will open in a new, smaller window (javascript).
